A Criminology student at MacEwan University, Willans is also an employee of the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta in two capacities. She was trained to give Partnership Education presentations, where she speaks to groups in the community about what it is like to live with mental illness, in order to educate and inform the public. She is also a Peer Support Outreach Worker. This new position is a partnership between the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta and Alberta Health Services. She is a member of the Alberta Health Services Addiction and Mental Health Assertive Community Treatment Team Edmonton zone. The clients she works with are subject to Community Treatment Orders. She works with clients in a supportive role, while also being an advocate and educator.
